Repeat prescriptions are used when someone is going to be taking the same treatment for a long time.
Not all medications are put on to repeat. Certain medications are deliberately not put on to repeat prescription as they can be dangerous. It is a decision between an individual and the doctor about whether a medication goes on to repeat.
You can also request further supplies of your medication either
- By submitting or posting (with a stamped addressed envelope) your repeat slip to us.
- Through your chemist
Please allow at least two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
On some occasions, requested medication is not on the repeat prescription. In this case, a doctor will review the prescription request and where possible accommodate. If they are unable to do this with the information that they have, then they may request a telephone or face to face appointment.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications. A message will be printed on repeat slips when a review is due. Please ensure you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
